Sonic Speed Simulator surpasses 1 billion lifetime visits, and Beetlejuice enters list.
Every week we publish exclusive research about how brands are activating on the Roblox platform. At the start of each month, we gather data on how many visits branded experiences have accumulated during the previous month to see what's currently popular on the platform.
+6% Monthly Increase Across Top 20 Roblox Games by Brands
When looking at the top 20 Roblox branded games combined, overall visits increased +6% month-over-month. In August, the top 20 games collectively had 133.7 million visits, versus having 126.2 million visits in July.
Sonic Speed Simulator Surpasses 1 Billion Visits on Roblox
Over 2 years ago in August of 2022, I put out a list of the top 10 brands on Roblox, and Sonic Speed Simulator (made by Gamefam) was the overall leader with over 473 million lifetime visits. This popular experience, which is based on SEGA's long running IP, recently became the first branded game to surpass 1 billion lifetime visits on Roblox.
Since the beginning of 2023, the experience has averaged 23 million monthly visits. Although the experience's monthly visits have gradually declined over time, it has demonstrated impressive longevity by consistently remaining over 10 million monthly visits. Another top performing branded experience My Hello Kitty Cafe, which had surpassed Sonic in early 2023, has dropped off as of late, dipping below 10 million monthly visits since May.
When looking at other top-performing branded games, Miraculous RP is the next closest to reaching 1 billion visits with about 750 million lifetime visits. At its current growth rate, it would likely take over 2 years for Miraculous RP to hit that major milestone. Barbie Dreamhouse Tycoon is growing at a fast rate, but even maintaining the same growth rate would see it surpassing 1 billion visits in about three years from now.
A recent non-branded experience that has exploded in popularity on Roblox is Dress to Impress. This viral sensation needed only about 8 months to surpass 1 billion lifetime visits. It's currently on pace to surpass 3 billion visits in less than a year.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Performs Well on Roblox
Beetlejuice Escape the Afterlife (made by Sawhorse, full disclosure: I worked on this project) is another example of an entertainment property performing well on Roblox and then at the movie box office. With now over 23 million lifetime visits in just about 4-5 weeks, this Roblox experience was highly effective at generating broad awareness among Gen Z and Gen Alpha Roblox players.
Like many other branded experiences, Beetlejuice Escape the Afterlife offered free UGC to attract players.
